Seeking Diving Coaches for 2011
From its beginnings as a power house on the BC Summer Swimming, Diving and Water Polo scene in the 80s, the Port Moody Aquarians (PMA) diving club continues to excel. The summer of 2010 saw 16 divers on the boards at Westhill pool, many of them young and keen. Our head coach, Gabriel Harris, has built a strong base for a team that is poised to attain prominence on the provincial stage. Unfortunately Gabe is moving to Taiwan and PMA is seeking a new Head Coach as well as an Assistant Coach for the 2011 Season to build on Gabe’s legacy.
Responsibilities of the Head Coach include:
- Coaching divers including beginners to provincial medalists
- Mentoring and supervising assistant coach(s)
- Diver recruitment and long-term development
- Program planning and coordination for all recreational and competitive programs
- Strong communication skills that create an environment that motivates athletes and other coaches to achieve their potential
- Able to work with Director of Diving to develop and sustain a healthy and vibrant club and foster its` growth
The successful applicants will possess the following qualifications:
- NCCP coaching certification level 1 or equivalent preferred
- Two years as a diving coach
- Ability to work with parents and athletes
- Proven leadership and organizational skills
- Experience in gymnastics coaching an asset
- NLS current for the 2011 Diving Season
The position is for the months of May to August and is part time only.
