Welcome
to the 2010 summer season.
This year promises to build on the excellent foundation of
swimming, polo and diving that has been established over 40
years of serving the Port Moody community. This year PMA is
facing new challenges that are a result of changing provincial
funding. Like many other community based sports and arts clubs,
we have come to rely on stable provincial funding of our programs.
Unfortunately, due to recent provincial changes, we are expecting
a significant reduction in provincial funding of our club.
In order to continue to offer excellence in coaching and
opportunities for our athletes, we have made some key changes
within the club. First off, we are pleased to continue our
excellent coaching and have stability as we return Dave Geary,
Jen Slinger, Taryn Coupland and Mike Wilson as swimming coaches
and Patrick Geary as water polo coaching and Gabe Harris as
diving coach. We will be reorganizing our swimming groups
to allow all of our coaches the ability to work with all of
our athletes and to also better utilize our pool time. In
order to manage our financial shortfall we have made reductions
in our expenses and have sought new ways to increase revenues.
We have worked hard to try and keep registration fee increases
to a minimum although you will notice that fees are raised
slightly from last year. Other revenue generating opportunities
will be presented during the year and will include clothing
apparel sales and some evening events for parents.
Summer swimming is a great way to build community and provide
excellent physical and social opportunities for our children
